There wasn't a dry eye in the house when Colin Crabe, affectionately called 'the music man', left Littlegreen School.

Every Tuesday for the past eight years, Mr Crabe has taught piano to pupils as well as accompanying Christmas services and other musical events.

A spokeswoman for the school said the boys always looked forward to their lessons.

"His passion and love of music was always infectious," she said.

"He has given many pupils an opportunity to achieve musically or play just for the sheer pleasure of it.

"A real gentleman, gracious and always polite, Mr Crabe will be sorely missed by everybody at Littlegreen, particularly the boys who not only learnt the joy of music but also tenacity and patience.

"Tuesdays at Littlegreen will never be the same again."

The school celebrated Mr Crabe's contribution with a special assembly and tea party with pupils performing a song they wrote especially for the occasion.
